The Bethany Lafferty School of Dance

Note to self: if Bethany becomes a dancer and opens her own studio and asks for help naming it, remind her of the catchphrase she has been throwing around today: Cha-Cha For Now!

Pre-Christmas Catch-up: December

The last post covered the major happenings of November, so let's see what has happened this month, shall we?

Bethany made it through swim class -- she won't be moving up just yet, but she's getting a lot better!
Bethany and Rebekah were in a small Christmas program put on by the lower grades at school. Bethany played Mary and did a great job!

 We decorated Christmas cutout cookies:

And we found Bethany sleeping in yet another odd position (notice: no blanket, but she's wearing a sweater and using another sweater to cover her legs...)
We went to the Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo with some friends!

(Here Bekah with one of her godfathers!)
We got our girls to (kind of) pose for pictures, just because they all happened to be dressed up...

...because they were headed to the Trinity Christmas show! Lots of enthusiasm from our (no longer very) little girls!

(you can tell Bethany was really into it because her little opera voice came out in a few spots!)

And with that, we're caught up.
We hope you all have a fantastic Christmas & New Year (and hopefully I'll post the actual holiday pictures a bit faster)!

Pre-Christmas Catch-up: November

So it has been a ridiculously long time since I posted here, because, well, that is apparently how I roll. But. Christmas is coming, which means the picture folders on our computer are about to get a LOT bigger. Point is, if I don't post anything now to cover what has happened since mid-November, trying to cover it all after Christmas will be the death of me.

So. Let's get to it!

The girls had a Thanksgiving feast at school, and I somehow managed not to get any pictures of Bethany...

(Abby made the cut, despite, you know, not actually being in school...)

We saw lots of Christmasy things in Hamburg (New York, not Germany)

We've played in the snow (what little there has been, anyway...)

And we decorated for Christmas, including our tiny tree (a last-minute replacement for our old tree)

Your Point?

I had the following conversation with Abby while decorating cookies tonight:

Mommy: The cookies are for everyone. That's my point.
Abby: That's your point?
Mommy: Yeah, that's my point.
Abby: What's my point?

Love her!

We were in Columbus this weekend, and the girls were thrilled to discover that one of my parents' neighbors had installed a zip-line!

(I can't lie: I'm wishing I had tried it myself!)

Business as usual

After yesterday's foray into the world of pants, today was a dress-down day at school, which for Bethany means it's a dress-up day:
That's our Fancy Nancy!

Those of you who know Bethany well will realize immediately what a big deal this picture is:
(For those of you who don't get why that's a big deal, allow me to explain: Bethany has been wearing a uniform to school since Kindergarten, and now, a couple months into her 1st grade year, she is wearing pants to school for the first time. Ever.)

Mind Your Ps& Qs

Rebekah just bumped into Abby, and the following conversation took place.

Rebekah: Sorry, Abby.
Abby: You're welcome.
Rebekah: No, sorry, Abby.
Abby: You're. Welcome.
Rebekah (laughing): I didn't say "thank you", I said "sorry"!!
Abby: OH!!! Thank you!

Get in Line

Great Gram and Rebekah were discussing her aspirations of becoming a "pictionary". Here is a snippet of their conversation.

Great Gram: Can I buy one of your pictures when you're a pictionary?
Rebekah: Well, you'll have to get in line!
Great Gram: Get in line?! I bet you'll make a lot of money selling your pictures.
Rebekah: No, I'm going to just give them away. That's why you have to get in line to get one.

Halloween is behind us, and our girls had a great time carving pumpkins, dressing up as ladybugs, and of course, trick-or-treating!

(somehow, we did manage to talk them out of Bethany's group costume idea: a baloney sandwich)
(And, um, sorry for the repeat pictures, there. I guess that's what you get when you have more than one person posting to the same blog!)

Halloween Preparation

The Lafferty girls are getting in the mood for Halloween! Our day Saturday was BUSY! We made costumes, pumpkins, and attended the first party of the season. Aren't they the cutest ever?!

Abby Cadabby

We've confused Abby:

Abby: What's Daddy's last name?
Mommy: Lafferty.
Abby: No, Matthew Lafferty.
Mommy: That's his full name...
Abby: And you're Lisa Lafferty.
Mommy: Yep.
Abby: And I'm Abby Cadabby Boo Lafferty.

Catch-Up Is My Favorite Game

Or maybe it just seems that way... Anyway, as is often the case, it has been a while. Sorry 'bout that!

So here's some stuff we've done lately!

Swim class:
 A corn maze:

 A fence maze:

And a trip to another farm to buy pumpkins!
